Deep royal Colt blue finish and manufactured in 1884. 2 1/4 inch barrel marked "COLT HOUSE 38" on left side with Colt's 2 line Hartford address on barrel top. Fixed integral steel front sight. Five shot fluted 38 Cal, cylinder measures 1 3/8 inches in length and is properly numbered 608 on rear. Perfectly fitting unnumbered "COLT" Cop and Thug black hard rubber grips. Frame is marked 38 CAL. below cylinder. these rare Colt revolvers had a total production estimated at 4000 and most of the production was nickel finished. CONDITION. Fine overall. Over 95% of the original dark blue factory applied finish remains with thinning and losses contained to backstrap and high point wear. Cylinder retains over 90% finish with typical high point wear and thinning from being stored in a drawer or cabinet. The two piece Colt "Cop and Thug" grips are excellent with no cracks or chips. The grips are not numbered but fit perfectly. The bore and chambers are perfect with no detractions or flaws. These short barreled guns are rarely found in blue finish and are hardly ever found in great condition. This example is the exception. Action is crisp and properly functioning. TDW
