High condition original finish Chamelot-Delvigne revolver, NSN, with takedown lever mounted on right frame. As true for most M1872 revolvers this example has a 6 inch octagonal barrel, fixed half moon front sight and rear sight notch. Belgian proofs appear under the barrel and in each of the chamber flutes. The gun is otherwise unmarked. On the right side of the gun is the loading gate, housing for the ejector rod, and the quick takedown lever. Finely checkered walnut grips, the right panel secured by screw and surrounding escutcheon. Rotating lanyard ring at base. Major components are highly polished and finished with a midnight blue. Hammer, trigger, cylinder axle, and ejector rod are polished and in the white. CONDITION: Stunning, 98+% bright original blue with sharp edge wear; slight fading and freckling on the grip straps and butt. Bright bore with strong rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A very attractive, unusual revolver whose history warrants further research. CORRECTION: This 1873 is British proofed and is believed to be a test or prototype revolver for the English Government.
