A standard configuration 1879 Reichsrevolver with octagonal/round 7 inch barrel, flared at muzzle, with fixed front sight and notched rear. Full serial number with Crown/V on left side of barrel and left side of frame with the full number repeated on cylinder axle, pin, and cylinder. Last 2-3 digits repeated on most of the small parts. 10.6 caliber marked on left upper chamber flat. The manufacturer in Suhl appears is marked on the side plate to which is affixed the manual safety. Smooth grip panels secured by a single transfer screw through a pair of escutcheons. Rotatable lanyard ring on grip cap marked "KM40" reflecting use by the German Navy (Kriegsmarine). CONDITION: Most of the original finish, including the head tempering of the small parts, has faded to a mellow grey-brown. Very good to excellent grips. Surprisingly bright, near mirror bore with sharp rifling. Excellent manual mechanics. Very few 1879 Reichrevolvers were issued to the Kriegsmarine; seldom offered for sale.
