Circa 1800 with steel barrel and belt hook. This very fine Spanish Miquelet blunderbuss has a belled barrel extensive inlays with silver wire throughout its length. Gold pioncons with Zubilaga underneath a crown, a lion rampant and two fleur de lis. Plane Miquelet lock deeply struck with poincons of maker. The light walnut full stock checkered at wrist and forend, steel trigger guard engraved and struck with a maker's mark. Butt in characteristic Spanish form, long steel bent hook, forend with silver band engraved with florals, steel buttplate with shell finial. CONDITION: barrel is patinated with very minor pitting throughout, silver is darkened but intact, lock with light rust, belt hook with minor pitting. Stock is crisp with crisp checkering and carving. Blunderbuss retains its original velvet finger protector. A most attractive Spanish blunderbuss. CORRECTION: This Blunderbuss was made for a wealthy Russian and is dated 1818 and has the double headed eagle proof on the barrel. Although Spanish parts, it is believed to have been assembled in Germany.
