Charles-François Galand (1832–1900) was a French gunsmith who worked in Liege and Paris, France. He manufactured many revolvers for civilian and military use, including the Galand Revolver (also called the Galand-Sommerville or Galand-Perrin), the Tue Tue, and the tiny Le Novo. This amazing revolver features full octagon barrel, six shot, non-fluted cylinder, double action, two piece ivory grips. Cylinder is engraved with floral motif with tiny punch dot background, gold damascene borders. Top of the barrel is stamped in gold damascene "CF GALAND A PARIS" and there is light gold damascene engraved at the breech of each flat surrounding a single flower and leaf. Similar patterns on frame with gold borders. Fire blued trigger, sides of hammer and frame screws. Similar engraved metal buttplate. CONDITION: Some gold damascene is starting to fade. Retains 98% original factory high polish blue with just minor high edge wear and thinning at grip strap, with some flaking at bottom of frame forward of trigger. Indexes and locks up correctly. Beautiful, strong bore. Housed in its original French leather over wood display case, French fitted for handgun. Comes with ebony handled turnscrew, small metal oil bottle, cleaning jag, brush, wire and original key. Inside lid of case stamped in gold "GALAND FRABRICANT D'ARMES PARIS 3.RUE RICHER.3".
