A resident of Kerrville, Texas, Kious was a full-time knifemaker who sold his first knife in 1969. He specialized in investment-quality interframes and bolstered folders, some bringing up to as high as $10,000 apiece. This elegant custom folder was made by Joe Kious and engraved by R. Strosin. The overall length is 5-1/4" and a drop point blade length of 2-1/4". Panel scene engraved on both sides with a feeding trout scene. The engraving is then over laid with a synthetic epoxy to give the impression of being a underwater scene. The bolster is then engraved in leafy vines and scroll with a small watch fob pattern lanyard loop made of gold affixed to the butt. Blade has a family crest on left side with the initial B-S and the right side is marked "KIOUS". CONDITION: Very fine with blade and body is as new with slight handling. A small stain exist on the epoxy over on of the feeding trout scenes.
