A resident of Kerrville, Texas, Kious was a full-time knifemaker who sold his first knife in 1969. He specialized in investment-quality interframes and bolstered folders, some bringing up to as high as $10,000 apiece. This 5-1/2" overall knife with a 2-1/4" blade has an artfully carved Mother of Pearl scale. A fine rope border run down the spine and within 1/2" of tip of blade. This workmanship is outstanding. Gold watch fob type lanyard loop with four small gold retaining pins finishing the Mother of Pearl scales. Blade marked "Joe Kious Kerrville TX." on right side of blade. Truly a piece of knifemaker's art. CONDITION: As made with no pattern of use or wear.
