This is the earliest recorded serial number of a model 1883 Mauser made Reichsrevolver. Dated "86" on the left side of the frame. All matching numbers. "WAFFEN-MAUSER/ 1883/ OBERNDORF" marked in oval on left side of sideplate. Standard wood grips. Unit marked on the back strap "W.R.S.188.". PROVENANCE: The Renown Collection of Howard Resnick. CONDITION: Retains minor traces of original blue on the frame. Barrel retains 35% blue. All markings are clear. Grips are good with dings and handling marks, showing wear and very minor pitting in areas. Bore is good with strong rifling and frosting. Action slightly at fault as the hand does not always engage the cylinder.
