Very unusual and early Haenel revolver having characteristics of both the M1895 Nagant and Reichrevolver. Screw-in 4.75 inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and notched rear. Full serial number is repeated on the left side barrel flat, cylinder axle housing, left side of frame, and sideplate. Crown/Crown/U on left side of frame and cylinder. Manufactured in Suhl on sideplate, to which is mounted Reichrevolver-type thumb safety. The design of the revolver is very reminiscent of the M1895 Nagant in terms of the loading gate features, exposed tensioning spring, and front strap. Finely checkered walnut grips, each with inserted escutcheon, with checkered wood insert at base of front strap. Rotatable lanyard on base. Major components finished with a high polish blue, a darkly strawed hammer, safety, and trigger. CONDITION: Approximately 70% original bright blue, the balance having faded to a greyish-brown patina. Near excellent bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A rarely encountered variation, for which there is little printed information. A great opportunity for the next owner.
