Large 12mm nickeled revolver, likely made in the 1880s, with a 6.25 inch octagonal barrel having a drift adjustable bead profile front sight and notched rear sight. The left side of the sideplate is marked "S.G.K./Patent". The serial number "1" appears under the barrel, on the ejector rod, on the cylinder, and on the cylinder pin. The sideplate, secured via large serrated thumb screw that extends from the right side of the frame, was made to reflect an extension of the left grip contour. The revolver was lightly engraved with floral and scroll motifs that also extends under the trigger guard. Finely checkered walnut grips, secured with a single transverse screw and paired escutcheons. Butt with rotatable lanyard ring. CONDITION: Approximately 50% original nickel, the balance having transitioned to a dull grey patina. Grips with blunted checkering and very superficial losses. Bright bore with sharp rifling. A very unusual revolver by virtue of its large thumb screw and unusual contoured sideplate, especially nice being serial number 1!
