Organic style vase is made in a floral pitcher form with applied leaves and blossoms on front and reverse, with an additional two applied glass cabochons on the front, mounted on an applied pedestal foot. The vase has an etched "Galle" on the top of foot. The vase has numerous hairline fissures throughout the body, applied leaves and blossoms, and applied residue inside the vase and on the curled top. It also appears to have a resin inside the base of the bowl, likely to stabilize the fissure at the connection of the pedestal. A vase of this form and decoration is shown in the reference book "Glass by Galle" by Alastair Duncan and Georges de Bartha, pg.82 fig.111, which shows the applied decorations carved as detailed blossoms and the two applied cabochons as beetles. Galle was known to have marked imperfect pieces as "Etude" if the piece was still of high enough quality to be sold. This piece is not marked as "Etude" and it is possible that with the number of fissures visible, may have been removed from the finishing process but still made its way out of the factory. With issues noted, otherwise Good.
