Gun (A) is a WWII Japanese type 99 rifle, made at the Toyo Kogyo arsenal. Series 31. Mum is ground. Bolt number is not matching. Early "aircraft" rear sight with both arms present. Original cleaning rod. Gun (B) is an Austrian 1867 Werndl rifle. Rotating breech. Standard Austrian marking on the top of the receiver which is blued. Standard configuration. Original cleaning rod. The lock is dated "868". What makes this gun interesting is that carved into the left side of the stock is "P.O.D./ 1909.", this is believed to be a previous owners initials. CONDITION: (A) Retains 70% finish overall. All markings are clear. Wood is very good with light handling marks and good markings. Fine mechanical function. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. (B) Receiver retains 80% original blue. The balance of the gun has a pleasing patina with light surface rust. Wood is very good with light handling marks. Fine mechanical function. Bore is fine with sharp rifling.
