The model "Sternsignalpistole SL" represents the first stainless steel flare pistol ever designed. These were made expressly for the Kriegsmarine. They were standard equipment on U-boats throughout WWII. This particular gun is marked "ac/43" on the left side of the frame along with the standard Kriegsmarine proof marks. Wood hand guard with hand stop. Checkered wood grips. PROVENANCE: The Renowned Collection of Howard Resnick. CONDITION: Some light handling marks here and there. Markings are clear and sharp. Wood is very good with some dings and handling marks, showing wear. Fine mechanical function. Bore is fine.
