The Flues Model single barrel trap was introduced in 1914. It underwent three design changes to the locking system, this gun is of the third variation, in use since 1916. It has a 34" barrel with matted ventilated rib. Polished barrel flats are stamped with serial number. Case hardened action with flues type under bolt and third pattern cross bolt triple fastening, is engraved in typical 4-E style with large shaded acanthus within geometric borders surrounding vignette of trap shooter on left, and heraldic eagle over "MADE in U. S. A." on right. Blued trigger guard has serial number on grip. Lightly figured American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15" over old open sided pad, and features right hand cheekpiece, Fleur-de-Lis checkering, and a gold shield on toe line. Matching reverse tapered beaver tail ejector forend has inset ebony tip and push button release. CONDITION: Very fine, original. Barrel retains approximately 80% original blue, with numerous marks, thinning generally overall. Action retains 70-80% original case hardening color, thinning and browning on bottom, and silvered on high edges from normal hand wear. Stocks retain over 60% what appears to be original finish with some oil added as maintenance over numerous light marks. Newer pad is not well fitted. Comb possibly lowered slightly. Checkering dirty and has not been re-cut. Bore is fine with striations. Action has just a hint of looseness.
