28-3/8" Shoe lump barrels with slightly raised matted game rib are engravers with makers name and "BRESCIA" on top of left barrel. Engine turned barrel flats are stamped with 1942 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with steel type and choke information. Coin finished sidelock action features non-automatic safety, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, and checkered double triggers (front articulated). Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage large open shaded acanthus with floral highlights within geometric borders. Rose bouquets are central elements to this engraving pattern. Maker's name and address are in scroll terminated ribands on each lockplate. Blued top lever and trigger guard are engraved with matching roses and scrolls. Nicely stump figured dense European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over black KICKEEZ pad. Point pattern checkering is on diamond hand. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrels retain 85% original blue, thinning overall, with numerous light marks and scratches. Action and locks retain nearly all of their coin finish, screw heads show considerable use. Stocks retain approximately 90% of their varnish finish, checkering lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. A high quality gun from wartime Italy. MGM 16.
