Manufactured 1913 and chambered for the 10 ga shotgun cartridge. blue finish overall with checkered steel butt plate and two piece American walnut stocks. 26 inch barrel with standard two line Winchester address on top and gauge marking on left side of chamber. Large stylized WRA marking on left side of receiver. A rack number "14" is stamped into the forearm and buttstock at the wrist. The "COLO.S.P." is stamped into the left side of the butt stock. The 1901 was the final phase of the Winchester lever action shotguns. The guns themselves were very reliable but could not compete with the lesser expensive competitors products of the day. With factory research letter indicating the serial number was applied on July 14, 1913 and no other information was available. CONDITION. , Exceptionally fine with over 98% of the original blue finish remaining. The bore is mirror bright and the action operates flawlessly. The wood stocks are excellent some very minute and insignificant bruises and scratches. The wood retains almost all of the factory applied varnish. All markings are crisp and legible. Western Police or Prison associated items are rarely found in fine condition and this gun is truly the exception.
