Manufactured in 1891 this 1886 Winchester rifle with tapered 24 inch round barrel with round sporting front sight and elevator adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. Standard two line barrel address. Case colored finished receiver with single set trigger. Two piece slab sawn American walnut stocks with crescent butt plate. chamber on barrel marked 45-90WCF over chamber. The 1886 was considered the finest rifle ever produced by the engineers and workman at the Winchester Repeating Arms company. Extremely strong action and chambered for the most powerful of cartridges available during the period. With Cody Museum research letter stating that this rifle was shipped August 6 1891 in the current configuration. CONDITION. Very fine with mirror bright bore, The barrel and magazine retain over 95% factory applied blue finish . The walnut stocks are very fine with over 95% of the factory varnish remaining with several small scratches and bruises that are inconsequential.
