The big Centennial Model Winchester or Model 1876 has always been difficult for collectors to find in fine condition. This example is truly a superb example. The 26 inch round barrel has a sporting blade front sight and the ladder adjustable 1876 rifle rear sight. Full magazine with Blue receiver and crescent butt plate. Manufactured in 1884 with two piece straight grained American walnut stocks with a varnished finish. chambered for the 45-60 cartridge and marked so on the chamber as well as the bottom of the elevator. The barrel is further marked with the traditional two line Winchester address on top. Case colored hammer and lever and butt plate. CONDITION. Excellent +. The barrel and magazine retain well over 95% original blue with the blue finish o the magazine turning naturally plum. The receiver has retained well over 90% vivid blue finish with slight losses at edges and balance points. Several small striations of loss exist and this is typical on found on 1876 Winchester. The hammer and lever have most all of their vivid case colors remaining while the butt plate is stating to silver and become brown The Two piece American walnut stocks are very fine with very most all varnish finish with several very minor bruises and insignificant small scratches. The bore is mirror bright and still has sharp rifling. The action is crisp and operates flawlessly. TDW
