This decorative sword features a straight, tapered single edge blade with partial fuller and decorated panels features arms motifs on both sides. Cast brass guard chased with decorated of a seated Indian with feet on a cannon next to other arms, a Liberty cap and an American eagle. The knuckle bow is decorated on both sides with a lion's head surrounded by foliate scrolls. Detailed Indian princess pommel and two piece Mother of Pearl grip scales decorated with three strands of brass and copper wire. Complete with brass scabbard with repose foliate panels of decoration. CONDITION: Good to very good. Blade retains a grey patina with some darker staining. Decorated portions retain about 30-40% blued and gilt finishes, mostly thinned and faded to brown. Hilt shows good detail and a mellow patina with generous amounts of gilt finish in protected areas. Scabbard retains most of its gilt finish with some thinning and losses on back side, and only a couple shallow dents. This is a very attractive and desirable American sword.
