Straight, tapered single edge blade with wide partial single fuller on each side. Each side features a blued panel with engraved and gilt washed designs. The right side with arms motifs and wreaths, as well as "SHF" on ricasso. The other side with a stand of arms. Cast gilt brass hilt with relief designs on guard of an anchor, a ship, a seated Lady Liberty and a patriotic eagle. The sword has an eagle head pommel and Mother of Pearl grip scales wrapped with three strands of copper wire. Complete with gilt brass scabbard with repose designs on the front. CONDITION: Good to very good. Blade retains a mostly grey and darker spotted patina with traces of finishes on right side and left side with about 70-80% original blue and gilt decoration. Hilt retains a mellow patina with generous traces of gilt finish in protected areas. Grips are excellent and show no chips. Scabbard retains about 70-80% gilt finish with some losses and flaking; there are a couple shallow dents on the back.
