This fantastic rifle is certainly engraved by Conrad Ulrich. The definition and style of engraving is unmistakable. While this rifle exhibits the finest special order embellishments offered by American gunmakers it has several minor areas of restoration. Chambered for the .38-55 WCF cartridge and has a 26" half octagon barrel. Brass bead front sight with Lyman tang sight. Half magazine with takedown lever and collar. Properly proof marked on receiver and barrel. Case hardened hammer, lever, and trigger. Receiver has full coverage engraving with classic No. 8 Ulrich stag hunting scene surrounded in delicate scrolls on left receiver and grizzly bear and scrollwork on right. Appended metal including hammer and lever has similar scroll flourishes. Screws in both left and right sides of receiver are engraved and case colored. Forearm cap is gold banded. Takedown collar is also gold banded. Crescent buttplate is engraved on top and gold banded. Also engraved on top of receiver and breech block. Assembly number 9166 on lower tang and matching number on upper stock channel. Fabulous "D" style oak leaf carved pistol grip stock and forearm of highly figured feather crotch walnut. Hard rubber grip cap and buttplate. Screw heads are engraved on buttplate. All numbers match. There are no factory records for 1894's in this serial number range, but this magnificent specimen is undoubtedly a factory made rifle. CONDITION: Extremely fine condition as partially restored. Retains virtually all of its finishes on both stocks and metal. Mechanics are fine. Rifle cycles and functions properly. Blue on receiver is very fine with very little use and has been extremely well-taken care of wood with only the lightest handling marks since having been lightly cleaned and re-oiled. Bright shiny bore while the exterior of the barrel is nearly perfect with its expertly restored finish. Mechanics are fine. A truly spectacular Winchester 1894 rifle that would satisfy the most discerning of collectors.
