One of the most attractive full suits of armor to be offered in a number of years. The helmet of this suit displays great age and is of extremely well formed hammered steel. Likely 16th century with complex visor, well cut breaths and roped border. Skull with roped comb of two piece construction displaying great age and marks from the hammer. Lovely helmet sits atop a 16th century almain collar of four lames, roped at top, en suite with breastplate. Winged pauldrons of exceptionally fine quality with roped borders and scalloped attachment. Cannons en suite with the pauldrons. Finely formed escot breastplate with roped border and articulated lance rest. The backplate en suite with two lames. The tassets are roped en suit of six lames. Mitten gauntlets with thumb pieces and roped borders appear to be original of the period. The cuisses are roped en suite. Sabatons of six lames. Cops well articulated en suite with pauldrons. CONDITION: The entire armor of exceptionally fine form and excellent quality throughout. One of the most attractive armors to be offered for sale in many years.
