This fantastic gun is # 2 of a matched pair- the famed "Set for Life" which was a 5 gun set of Piotti shotguns designed to be completely identical in every regard including wood that was supplied for the same tree for all 5 guns! This gun is the #2 gun in the matched set of 12ga guns. It is engraved "II" on rear portion of rib, top lever, and forend tip. This gun has well struck 28" barrels with slightly raised matted game rib which is engraved "Flli PIOTTI ITALY" on sides of left barrels. Barrel flats are stamped with 1996 Italian nitro proofs; Bottoms of barrels are stamped with chambers, importer, and model. Coin finished sidelock action features non-automatic safeties, raised arrowhead tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front articulated). Action and lockplates are engraved with very well cut minuscule shaded scroll which covers full area of actions with the exception of beads, which are left unengraved. Lockplates are also fully covered with scroll. This close work is very finely executed and stands up well to 10X magnification. Engravers signature, G Ranetti, is on trigger plate. Single beaded trigger guards are also scroll engraved, Serial numbers are on tangs. Dark finely marbled European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15" over black KICKEEZ pads with perfectly matched wood to the #1 gun in this pair, as can be seen in the previous lot. Very well cut, closely spaced point pattern checkering is on diamond hands. Matching small beavertail ejector forend has Anson release. CONDITION: Excellent, close to new, with evidence of very little firing, with minute marks and scratches in finish of wood and metal surfaces. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent. This is your opportunity to own a fine and most unique pair of Piotti's that were originally made as part of the only 5 gun set they ever made.
