24" long blade of characteristic form is damascened on both sides with scrolls and highly stylized Arabic calligraphy. The hilt of bronze retains considerable original gilding and six bezel set corals. There are four bezel set corals on blade. Well fashioned walrus ivory grip scales of characteristic form. CONDITION: Grip scales are in good condition except for a few minor age cracks. Condition of blade is stained with minor pitting and losses to silver damascening. Gilding could be brightened by use of toothbrush and household ammonia. A nice, large, Ottoman Yatigan.
