Joseph Rogers & Sons began work at 6 Norfolk Street in Sheffield beginning at approximately 1724. This is referred to as a spear point Bowie. Blade is stamped "JOSEPH ROGERS & SONS" on left side. German nickel guard, one piece stag grips, circular plated ferrule and German nickel buttcap. CONDITION: Knife does have some age spotting and a couple of very minor nicks on both edges. Handle is in excellent shape with no cracks and only a minor nick. Comes in leather sheath with German nickel throat and tip with frog type button hook. Excellent example of a pre-1890 London Bowie by arguably one of the most well-known cutlery forms in Europe.
