Lot consists of a World War I era Pattern 1912 USMC enlisted blue dress blouse and Pattern 1912 dress blue cover. Uniform has regulation Corporal's stripes, and correct brass USMC buttons. Inside of sleeve is stamped in black ink: J. (J)? RUSSELL, but is somewhat hard to read. Hat retains period correct gold gilt enlisted eagle, globe and anchor (EGA) device. Hat is contract stamped: W.H. HORSTMANN, PHILADELPHIA CONTRACT JULY, 15, 1915 to inside of russet brown leather sweatband. Tarred bill and chinstrap are intact with original side buttons. CONDITION: Uniform is excellent and from a smoke-free home. One small moth nip the size of pencil head on LH sleeve near the buttons. Hat shows some light period wear, with sweatband loose in places. Tar on bill shows evidence of heat crinkling. Overall, a decent example of the iconic World War I Marine Corps "dress blues" uniform.
WWI USMC ENLISTED DRESS BLUE UNIFORM COAT & HAT.
