This is a completely unmarked Confederate foot officer's sword, as is typically the case with most Civil War Southern manufactured swords. It follows the pattern of the Federal Model 1850 foot officer's sword. The slightly curved, completely unmarked steel blade features a shallow partial fuller on each side. The cast brass hilt features a pierced guard with delicate scrollwork. The leather wrapped grip has uneven sections separated by twisted brass wire. The sword is complete with its original black leather scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Very good. Blade retains a spotted grey patina with some heavier dark spots. Hilt and scabbard mounts retain a very dark, unclean patina. Grip is very good. Scabbard is very good with some cracking and crazing to surface. This is a very honest, as found, Southern manufactured Confederate sword.
