Introduced to the market around 1917, the Parker single barrel trap gun was fairly popular, with a total of just under 2,000 made. The vast majority were in grade "SC" and about 1,300 of these had 32" barrels. This gun with 32" barrel fitted with matted ventilated rib, has Parker factory markings and "Acme Steel" on left side. All correct marks and proofs are on barrel flats and lump. Case hardened action has all correct marks on water table and is fitted with nickel plated trigger. Action is engraved with unique to this grade 60% coverage large open shaded scroll, as counterpoint to some sprays of standard scroll. Bottom of action is engraved "PARKER" and trigger plate has scroll surrounding vignette of flying pigeon. Blued trigger guard has scroll on bow and serial number on tang. Nicely crotch figured American walnut Parker capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over open sided Hawkins pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Side panels are checkered. A large vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching reinforced long beaver tail ejector forend has typical Parker release and patent date stamped on iron. Accompanying this gun is a Parker factory letter, indicating that the serial number is listed twice in the Remington IBM card book. The first card was a 32", 12 gauge, single barrel, SC grade trap gun issued to T.S. D.W. Flannigan, who they believe to have been a Remington employee. The second card was also an SC grade single barrel trap gun, also in 12 gauge with 32" barrel, issued to T.S. C.W. Baldwin, another Remington employee. CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refinished. Barrel retains nearly all of what appears to be an old re-blue with some subsequent marks and thinning. Action retains 50-60% original case hardening color, balance a pleasing silver. Stocks retain over 80% of what appears to be their original finish, but is possibly an old "best" quality refinish. Checkering is somewhat worn. Bore is excellent. Action is tight. Ejector is strong. A clean example of these well made guns, that has had little subsequent alteration, as is common on trap guns.
