The Hira Zukuri blade measures 8-3/4" with thick straight temper (suguha) of fine nie the grain (jihada) appears to be tame. The tang with straight across file marks (yoko yasuri mei) is signed Minamoto Tokiyoshi and dated Meiji 1875, the habaki is copper with gold plating. The handle with polished horn fuchi kashira, no menuki, and fine same. The mekugi ana of gilt copper with feather mon. The black roiro scabbard (saya) with feather mon in relief, gold haramaki, surrounded by floral tendrils. CONDITION: The blade in full polish with a few extremely minor imperfections, slight opening on left side near the shinogi line. The scabbard in immaculate condition throughout with no damage visible other than extremely minor separation along spine, following the seam. A beautiful Meiji Aikuchi. Comes with heavy antique silk storage bag.
