The Herman Konejung knife works was a legendary name in Germany before the war and it probably best known to collectors as he was one of the early producers of the Hitler Youth knife at the dawn of the Nazi era. The left side of the blade has an etching of a bearded man hand forging a blade, emulating rays from the pounded surface. Etching measures 5" by 8". Also etched on blade is their eyeglass brand, the maker's name and "SOLINGEN". Blade measures 26" in length and 5" at its widest point. Back side of blade is blank. Bolster is solid steel with traces of original nickel plating. Measures 6" long and 4" wide. Walnut scales measures 25-1/2" long, 6" wide and 1-1/2" high. It is held together by three giant 1-1/2" pins and operates like a traditional folding knife in that it still opens and closes. This giant store display weighs more than 30 lbs, and when fully extended to lock position measures 56-1/2" in length. This is one of the most incredible and unique pre-war knife store displays in existence with extreme historical importance due to the company's history as a knife maker during the Nazi Regime. CONDITION: Shows bumps and bruises. Top is squared off but is still in excellent, all original and untouched condition. A truly one of a kind piece.
LARGE EARLY GERMAN FOLDING KNIFE STORE DISPLAY.
