Lot contains: (A) World War II U.S. Army officer's visor hat interior size marked 6 7/8, sweatband marked McClellan Field Post Exchange with initials "J.H.D." in ink at the front. Also included is the original 3" by 5" typed note card reading "Navy Relief Fund Auction/ Item: Army Air Corps Officers Billed Hat/ Control Number 67/ Donated By: Gen, J.H. Doolittle USAAC" and signed Jim Doolittle. The Naval relief fund auctions were and are a source of fund raising to help sailors and Marines with financial assistance both at home and abroad. Many celebrated military leaders donated uniforms and other personal effects to help the relief society to raise funds. CONDITION: Excellent. (B) Stetson hat of tan fur felt, silk band and bound edge. Interior crown lining with embroidered "XXX Stetson" logo depicting a cowboy allowing his horse to drink from his hat and leather sweatband embossed in gold "Made by Stetson especially for Jimmy Doolittle". Housed in its original Stetson box with typed label reading "To James H. Doolittle". CONDITION: Excellent. (C) Hunting vest, cloth with leather trim, the left breast chain stitched "J. Doolittle". CONDITION: Unused. (D) 8" by 10" color photograph of Doolittle signed "To Bob/ With every wish/ J. H. Doolittle". CONDITION: Excellent. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
