Extremely rare and desirable German Navy Luger unit marked "GOUV. KIAU. 151." on the back strap. One of only about fifteen known to exist. The unit mark stands for "GOUVERNMENT KIAUTSCHOU" and is for the Imperial German colony in China that was known as Kiatchou. It was located in Tsingtao, China. On November 7th, 1914, the Japanese attacked and captured the German colony at Kiatschou. The entire garrison was captured and its members were taken to Japan as prisoners of war. Features include long frame, round barrel with dovetailed inverted V front sight, two position adjustable 100-200 meter rear sight on rear toggle link, wide grip safety, walnut checkered grips, and eight round detachable box magazine. The gun is all matching but the magazine. "DWM" in scroll on the front toggle link with the crown "M" proofs on the left side of the receiver. The extractor is marked "GELADEN", safety is marked "GESICHERT" in the upper position. The safety has been altered. Marked "4. 80". on left side of frame. CONDITION: Gun retains approximately 89% of the original factory applied rust blue finish and 35% of the original straw on the small parts. Gun shows just a bit of high edge wear and some light freckling. Finely checkered wood grips with no chips or cracks. Bright and shiny bore with crisp lands and grooves. This would be the center piece to any Luger or German Navy collection.
