(1968) 26-3/8" and 27-7/8" barrels. Both with target forends and narrow, ventilated ribs, have all correct factory markings. 26-3/8" barrels are marked for "skeet" and "skeet". 27-7/8" barrels are marked for "modified" and "full". Coin finished action with gold-plated single trigger is engraved in typical pigeon style with pairs of pigeons flying through a field of simple scroll. Top of action is relief engraved with oak leaves and acorns. Area under top lever usually reserved for serial number, is gold inlaid with signature "H H West". Serial number does not appear anywhere on action but is on barrels. Short tang square knob buttstock of nicely crotch figured American walnut measures 13-7/8" over thin black Decelerator pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Forends match well. Tan Hartman case has brass plate riveted to top engraved "PRESENTED TO / HOWARD H. WEST / BY / FELLOW DIRECTORS / OF / MARATHON OIL COMPANY". Case is lined in faux fur and contains instruction booklet and guarantee. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of casual field use, with a few scattered handling marks and light firing halos on breech face. No salt damage is evident on action, however both forends show staining at interface with iron, with pitting and rusting evident on 27-7/8" barrels. Newer pad is not well fitted. Bores are excellent, longer barrels have considerable grime, should clean. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent. MGM 89.
