London made etched panel Bowie knives destined for the California gold miner trade were a must-have for miners heading to the gold fields mid-19th century. This Bowie was manufactured and stamped on ricasso "W WILKINSON & SON SHEFFIELD". Left side of the blade is etched "A CALIFORNIAN ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT IS RIGHT AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG". Features an eagle with a bag of coin "10,000", and "I CAN DIG GOLD FROM QUARTZ", and lastly "CALIFORNIA BOWIE KNIFE". Sports a sterling silver cutlery handle with silver guard. CONDITION: Legends are sharp and etching is strong. Cutting edge has a few nicks. Comes in the typical decorated red leather sheath with nickel throat and tip with gold embossing.
