Engraved on back with "Gewidment / vom / N.D. Sch. B. No. 1. U.S.A./ PRAESIDENT / Louis Groth / Sum Iten (sp?) / DEUTSCHEN BUNDES SCHUTZEN-FEST / in Frankfurt a/m / vom 3 ton bis 10 ton Juli / 1887" . It is a three tier with top bar, 2nd bar "1887-Ehrengabe-DES". The large medal is done in cast relief. Features Eagle with ribbon in beak "New York Schuetzen Bund No. 1 USA" . Has crossed rifles over wreath enclosing an enamel bulls-eye. There are also a pair of flags depicted, right side being the United States, left side being the German flag in 1887. The third tier measures 3" high, total height 4 1/4". Melt value alone is over $1000. An excellent display piece. CONDITION: Excellent.
