The Floyd Rifles was the nickname for Company C, 2nd Battalion, Georgia Volunteer Infantry organized near Macon. They saw action at Gettysburg. This medal is engraved on back "PRIVATE / C.B. Drew / -WON- / The Gettysburg Medal / 1891, 1892, 1893 / HE RETURNED IT TO THE CO. / FOR WHICH THIS IS AWARDED / JULY 3 1893.". It is a three piece pin back medal. Top section has an eagle overlooking a ribbon that reads "Floyd Rifles", 2nd tier has intertwined FR decorated with gemstones and surrounded by a wreath, overlaid o n a pair of rifles, and lastly, the large medal with same FR overlaid on a building styled after a Greek temple, dated 1844, with ribbons and shield at top and wreath at borders, tied together at bottom with a bow with a small green gemstone in it. Medal weighs 15 pennyweights.
