Lot consists of (A) pin from The Society of Colorado Pioneers made in two pieces and attach by singular loops of chain. Top piece depicts a ribbon engraved "C.H. Colburn" over a copper gold pan overlaid on a rifle, shovel, and pick. Second piece shows a vignette of a family striking out for the gold rush, with man on horse pointing into the distance while carrying a rifle, a boy watching with some kind of tool in his hand, various animals, and a covered wagon. Bottom of second piece has a plaque dated 1860. Reverse is maker marked "Manufactured by The Diamond Palace Denver Colorado" with a Sterling mark. CONDITION: Good overall, intact, with some tarnishing. Engraving is sharp and legends are easily legible. Some marks around the extremities on the piece and on the pronounced pieces, such as the copper pan. Research into the Society of Colorado indicates that this piece may have been given to Charles H. Colburn, who arrived in Colorado in 1860. (B) Wells Fargo Commemorative Coin issued in 1902 for the 50th anniversary of the company and given to any current employees who had been with the company for a year or more. Front depicts two vignettes seperated by a ribbon that reads "Wells Fargo & Company". Top vignette shows a stagecoach under attack by bandits in a treeline and the shotgun messenger returning fire while the passengers look on. Bottom vignette depicts a messenger on a horse taking aim at an Indian drawing his bow back to shoot. Reverse depicts a boat leaving an industrial city with power lines over a train with one carriage marked "Wells Fargo and Company Express" over a ribbon reading "1852 MARCH 18th 1902" for the fifty years of the company. Bottom engraved with two cross quills with a wax seal next to two cross keys and "Express and Banking" over a fist with lightning bolts coming out of it. Very bottom of coin engraved "Fidelity". CONDITION: Coin is in good condition and complete but dirty. Decoration is still quite sharp and many small details are still visible. Coin has a lovely patinated look. This is an unmissable lot of any aficionado of the Westward expansion.
