Lot consist of (A) Pith helmet attributed to General G. Sugden. Name on copper lined hat box. Richard Edgar Sugden was serving as the second-in-command of his battalion at the start of the First World War. He fought in the Second Battle of Ypres, and was wounded in September 1915. He returned to his regiment the following November. Sugden was awarded the Distinguished Service Order on 3rd June 1916 and on 4th September 1916 he became Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's Regiment. On 17 December 1917 he was awarded a Bar to his DSO. He was promoted to brigadier-general on 7 June 1918 and took command of the 151st Infantry Brigade. The brigade was engaged in action in France between October 1918 and the Armistice of 11 November 1918. Hat has 6 E. Surrey patch on side. Accompanied by a notebook detailing troop movements and orders of the 14th K.G.O Sikhs. CONDITION: Good, complete, with some toning and a few minor stains. One small tear on interior. (B) Pith helmet attributed to H.L.Owens "The Dorsetshire regt." London made plaque onn metal carry case. World War One era. Henry Leftwich Haddon Owen, machine gun corps. LIV Patch on side. Killed in action 1918. CONDITION: Good, complete, with some toning and very minor stains.
