Admiral of the Fleet Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, KG, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCIE, GCVO, DSO, PC, FRS was a British Royal Navy officer and statesman, an uncle of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and second cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth II. Lot consists of (A) Cased pair of World War II Navy Barr and Stroud CF42 binoculars with British broad arrow proofs attributed to Lord Mountbatten, HRH Prince of Wales. Concertina sunshields work correctly. The leather case has Mountbatten and Crown stenciled in gold on lid. (B) Program for an event honoring the late Lord Mountbatten dated December, 1979. (C) A handwritten letter from Mountbatten dated 1976 with regards to the then new Canadian Silver Jubilee Medal. (D) A framed picture of Mountbatten, signed card and an embroidered patch. CONDITION: Binoculars show light surface wear. Case, photograph, and framed picture are in excellent condition. A great grouping from the late Lord Mountbatten. CORRECTION: Previous versions of this lot identify Lord Mountbatten as Prince of Wales; his proper title is Admiral of the Fleet Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma.
