This professionally engraved map horn has a curved body of 13-1/2" and is tapered with a rounded and grooved spout section. The slightly domed wooden plug has an iron staple for sling attachment. The horn depicts and large and detailed British crest with a view of a city below labels "YORK". The horn shows a map of villages, waterways and forts; some of the places shown are Saratoga, Fort Henry, St. Water and Albany. There are a total of seven forts depicted on this horn. CONDITION: Good to very good. Horn retains a dark, uncleaned patina overall. Engraving shows dark patina overall. There is one minor crack stemming from the plug, a few cracks at the spout and some chipping around the spout opening. Old twine has been wrapped around the end of the spout to prevent further cracking. This is a very nice and very honest French & Indian War map horn.
