Rare and beautiful 26 star, "Great Star" pattern flag. The 26th star represents the addition of Michigan to the United States and was in use from 1837-1845. Entirely hand stitched and measuring 7' on the hoist and 16' on the fly, double sided, constructed of wool bunting with the exception of the white cotton stars. The stripes average 5" width. There are 26 stars that average 4" point to point and are pierced through the blue wool and bound around the edges with cotton thread. Course linen heading with brass grommets. CONDITION: There is some damage and overall shows its great age but very sound with excellent color.
