This fine target rifle features an octagon to dodecagon (12 sided) barrel. Features adjustable rear sight adjustable to 1200 meters, globe front sight with disks, and single shot. Has a chamber that lifts up similar to a trapdoor Springfield. Missing the lollipop sight but base is intact. Frame is chisel engraved in the Germanic style. Engraved nickel forend tip, double escutcheons, small clam shell type engraving left sideplate, and a left sideplate with what appears to be a buccaneer lighting a cannon. Stock is heavily carved. Buttplate is thick and beautifully engraved. Wood is exquisite. Patchbox engraved scene is a shooting match with a dozen attendees, some hoisting beverages. Has an engraved side plate with a single hammer. Ornate engraved five finger groove trigger guard, double set target trigger. CONDITION: Barrel retains virtually all of its reapplied blued finish over light pitting. Balance of metal is basically in the white with the engraving. Slight wood repair on left wrist surrounds entire lockplate where an entire piece of wood was professionally fitted. Strong pronounced rifling with fine action. An ornate, visually appealing, custom built Schuetzen rifle.
