Lot consists of: two carbines feature full round barrel, full magazine, hooded ramp front sight, twin bands, Winchester sporting rear sight, blue finish, walnut long wood fore ends, walnut buttstocks with no comb flutes, and checkered steel buttplates. Gun (A) has the front barrel band that is referred to as a flat band. CONDITION: Retains approximately 90% blue on barrel and tube with some thinning at muzzle and left side of tube. Frame retains approximately 50% blue mixing with brown patina, grey patina around edges with some overall age freckling. Gun (B) CONDITION: has approximately 75% blue on tube, balance mixing, 85% on barrel, high edge wear. Frame retains about 75% blue, starting to thin to grey at carry points with age freckling. Both stocks are in excellent condition with typical handling wear. Both have fine actions with strong, clean, well defined rifle bores. Neither of these rifles were closet queens but both were well taken care of and have seen half a century of use and both still have half a century or better left to give. A pair of true classic American firearms.
