Left side of stock has twin cartouche stamps under saddle bar "TWR" for Thomas W. Russell, a civilian employee at the Ordnance Department during the Civil War who inspected the Sharps 1863 carbine. Left side of stock has the "DFC" inspector stamp in ribbon, for David Clark, who inspected the conversions. Rear sight is the RS Lawrence 1859, graduated to 800 yards, and standard post front sight. Saddle rings and bar intact. Left side barrel stamp barely visible, due to refinishing after conversion. The Lawrence and Sharps patent dates on right side are sharp. CONDITION: Barrel retains nearly all of the arsenal reapplied blued finish. Case colors on frame have darkened out with traces visible. Walnut stocks are excellent to near mint. Screw heads are sharp. Mirror bore. Action is fine. Extremely nice collector quality Sharps carbine.
