Very fine First Model Winchester 1873 round barrel rifle with thumbprint dust cover, plain trigger, proper First Model second pattern rear sight, nickel silver blade front sight, two piece oil finished walnut stocks and crescent butt with trap for four piece cleaning rod. CONDITION: This is a very fine overall nice original rifle. These First Models with the thumbprint dust covers are frequently encountered with a tremendous amount of hard use and wear. This example has a very even chocolate patina with solid and proud walnut stocks. Bore is very fine with strong rifling and slight darkness within the grooves. Several small areas of pitting are evident on top of barrel just forward of the traditional two line address. Factory research states Winchester Model 1873 serial No. 18006 was shipped on July 11th, 1877 with round barrel and set trigger; matches letter with the exception of set trigger.
