In 1979, the Colt Custom Gun Shop took a standard blued Series 70 1911A1. Built 250 special edition guns commemorating the seven presidents of the United States that hail from Ohio: Harrison, McKinley, Taft and Harding; left side of slide shows Grant, Hayes and Garfield. All in gold vignettes and numbered "1 of 250". Back of the left slide has the state bird, the cardinal. Right side has the Custom Shop logo. Gold vignettes are encased in fine scroll engraving. Exotic dark wood handles with standard Colt gold logo. CONDITION: Near new inside and out, housed in a display bookcase with special seven president plaque titled "OHIO PRESIDENTS SPECIAL EDITION" and also accompanied by its original matching numbered cardboard box.
