Offered is a Vietnam War Commemorative M16 made by Bushmaster with the following features: carry handle upper, A1 triangular handguard, A1 style buttstock, A1 style pistol grip, left side only safety, and forward assist. Left side of frame has "B.F.I/PORTLAND ME./USA/CAL. 223-5.56MM/MOD. CAR-AR/V0222". Small parts including takedown pins, safety, magazine release, trigger, flash hider, sling rings, sight adjustment ring, and trigger are gold plated. Right side of frame has "VIETNAM/WAR/COMMEMORATIVE/M-16" enclosed by bamboo rectangle, "LEST WE FORGET" in front of charging handle, dragon emblem on open spaces. Grip has emblem with large "U.S." and "FOR THE SURVIVAL AND SUCCESS OF LIBERTY" encircling it. Stock has emblem embedded reading "IN HONOR OF THE VIETNAM WAR" in outer ring and inner ring reading "IN LASTING MEMORY OF THOSE WHO SERVED" around an interior design. Dust cover has "1959" and "1975" on panels. Comes with M7 style bayonet with gold locking lug, guard, and screws. Right side of blade has dragon design and "UNITED STATES ARMY/VIETNAM". Right side has "SGT. II N (JAY) HOFFMAN III" and "1065" on ricasso. Emblem in handle with the Great Seal of the United States. Bayonet has a modern green felt French fitted case. Reproduction sling attached to gun. Magazine stamped for Colt on bottom and may be original. CONDITION: Rifle is in very fine condition retaining virtually all of its black finish with a few scattered handling marks and edge wear. Forearm has a few rubs. Fine action with a strong bore. Bayonet is also in very fine condition with a few handling marks. Scales do not line up with guard.
