Full or partial serial number can be found on barrel, wedge, cylinder, frame, backstrap and trigger guard. We can find no mention in any of the Colt books regarding a 4-1/2" barrel. Another oddity on this gun is that the frame is stamped "US" on left side. CONDITION: This is a no finish gun with partial serial number. Most of the screws are marred. There is pitting at the breech of the barrel. Muzzle is rough and dented, making it difficult to determine if barrel was cut; the set back for front bead is correct. Left side of frame has pitting and corrosion. Original nipples. Grips are very good. Indexes and locks up correctly. We can find no mention of any Model 1849 Pockets stamped "US" in any reference books. No condition, but definitely an anomaly.
