Made at the Burnside Rifle Company 1862 to 1865. One of the most widely used carbines during the Civil War. A vast amount of these rifles were left in new condition at the end of the war, but this is not one of those. CONDITION: Rifle has seen heavy use. All metal is dark patina. Saddle bar is bent. Wood has numerous nicks, bumps and bruises. Missing rear sideplate screw. Stock is original, proud to metal in most places and not broken. Other than the missing screw, this carbine is complete. It is amazing given the use that it has strong, pronounced, fairly clean rifling and the action works fine.
