Lot consists of: Gun (A) World War II European Theater Operations, approximately 9,767 were manufactured in 1970 to commemorate World War II. This pistol has the inscription "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER DECEMBER 11, 1941 - MAY 7, 1945". The entire gun is nickel plated with bird's eye maple grips with Colt medallion. Left side of slide is roll engraved with an oak leaf motif and the inscription "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS". Right side is engraved with an oak leaf motif and the name of ten major events of this Theater. Comes in an oak case with lockable drawer lined in Infantry blue. The lid has the scene of the signing of the surrender documents in Rheims, France. Comes with seven deactivated nickel plated cartridges and a commemorative plaque. CONDITION: Near new condition inside and out. Gun (B) World War II Pacific Theater of Operations commemorative. Full nickel plate with rosewood grips with Colt medallions. Issued the same year. Approximate production 9,886. Left side is roll engraved with palm leaf motif and names of ten major events of this theater. Right side is roll engraved with palm leaf motif and the inscription "WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS". Comes in a light colored wood case with lockable drawer, lined in green velvet. Outside the lid has bamboo style trim around a grass cloth surface. Inside the lid depicts the surrender scene on the USS Missouri. Display includes seven deactivated nickel plated cartridges and the commemorative plaque. CONDITION: Near new inside and out. This constitutes the complete set for World War II, following up on the popular four-gun World War I set that was produced in 1967.
